August 1

Tacony Summer Arts Festival | 6900 Torresdale Ave, 11 AM to 3 PM - Hosted by Tacony Together in collaboration with Tacony CDC and Tacony LAB Community Art Center, this neighborhood arts festival brings craft vendors, BBQ, live music, and family activities to Northeast Philly. Free and community-first.

August 2

Freedom Now Fest 2026 | Lancaster Ave, 38th to 40th Streets, 1 to 6 PM - Freedom Now Fest returns to the very block where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his 1965 Freedom Now Rally speech in West Philadelphia. Now in its annual run, the festival honors that history with live music, Black-owned vendors, art installations, film screenings, and community wellness services. One of August's most meaningful days.

August 8

Port Richmond Pierogi Fest | Campbell Square, 2535 E Allegheny Ave, 12 to 5 PM - The 8th Annual Port Richmond Pierogi Fest is back with double the vendors. A neighborhood institution that does exactly what it says.

August 9

West Philly Futures Fest 2026 | KANVAS Venue, 3870 Lancaster Ave, 12 to 4 PM - Organized by the Mantua Powelton Alliance's Neighborhood Leadership Initiative, the inaugural West Philly Futures Fest is designed by youth for youth. Skill labs, a resource fair, mental health support, and entertainment for the whole family. The next generation of neighborhood leaders put this together themselves.

August 15

Litapendence Day - Philadelphia's annual celebration of literacy, community, and culture. Check the link for this year's location and programming details.

August 22

Festival Lovers: Urban Arts 52 Fest | 200 Block of S. 52nd St, 12 to 6 PM - More than 60 local artists, live music on a small stage, and neighborhood vendors on the 52nd Street corridor. Part of the city's 250th anniversary Community Corridor Celebrations.

5th Annual Community in Action Festival | 700 Cobbs Creek Pkwy, 12 to 4 PM - Five years running, this free community festival from Community Hero PA brings live DJs, free food, a bookbag giveaway, and local organizations together at Cobbs Creek. Family-friendly and free parking.

FDR Park Summer Music Festival | FDR Park, 11 AM to 7 PM - The 2nd annual Friends of FDR Park Summer Music Festival celebrates the diverse cultural communities of South Philadelphia through live music. Lineup includes Jason Jefferies and the TaLLtrEEs, The Jazz Crew Big Band, Batala Philly, and more. Free to attend.

August 23

The Ritzy Film Festival 2026 | Landmark Ritz Five, 214 Walnut St, 11 AM to 4 PM - A film festival for the people by the people, hosted by Cheyenne Downing at one of Philly's most beloved independent cinemas. The color theme this year is dark red.

August 28 to 30

Philadelphia Handmade Vendors Market | Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks - Three days of handmade goods, artisan vendors, and independent makers. Note: this one is at the Expo Center in Oaks, PA, just outside the city, so plan accordingly if you're going.

August 29

Just Believe Festival 2026 | Love Park - A full sensory celebration of fashion, music, art, and community hosted by GoBelieve Culture Inc. Live musicians, runway fashion, live painting, and 500 plus attendees. A layered festival experience to close out the month.
